Where Have All the Dragons Gone?
Reading Between the Lines of Time
The jet wasn’t large outside; however, it was very comfortable inside. There were double reclining seats on each side of the plane with a table between them, facing each other.
Midna and Link were fascinated by the small round windows next to each set of seats.
{: Are you sure they won’t be upset with us not in a cage Moon? :} Link asked.
{: We paid for the privilege that allows you both to have free roaming ability in here. No one is putting you in a cage Link. As a matter of fact. I left them in the van. :} she laughed as he bounded across the plane, looking out the windows.
{: How long before we take off Moon? :} Midna wanted to know.
{: Let me ask. :}
“Excuse me, sir? Do you know how long before we take off?” She asked the pilot.
“Just a few more minutes ma’am. I need to finish my checklist, then we will roll out onto the tarmac and await our departure. I’ll let you know over the speaker when we are about to start to taxi to take off.”
“Thank you so much, I really do appreciate your being available on such short notice for us.”
“Not at all Ma’am, I had nothing to do today, as my other fare had to cancel. Enjoy the flight.”
Returning to her seat, she buckled in, {: He said he will tell us before we take off, so you both might want to be lying down. To be prepared for it. :}
They both sat in the seats opposite of her, and taking her word, laid down. So that they would not be upset by the plane moving and taking off.
The pilots voice came over the speaker. “Please make sure to fasten your belt ma’am, as we are about to start moving.”
The plane moved smoothly out of the hanger and pulled to a stop on a side runway when the pilot announced again. “We are next for takeoff.”
The engines roared to life, no longer that humming sound used to drive along the runways, but the full-throated roar used upon takeoff.
They began to move. Then the pressure Moon associated with take-off began.
“We are on our way.”
Link and Midna both dug their claws into the seat at the movement of the plane. Moon thought to herself, note on ours, no leather seats!!!
The noise was louder in a jet than on a big plane she noticed, perhaps because the plane was smaller.
Soon the feel of the wheels moving on the pavement stopped. and there was that feeling of smooth acceleration.
{: OK guys. You can look now. :} Moon said as she stared out the windows.
Link was up on his hind legs with his pink nose pressed against the windowpane, whiskers twitching. Midna joined him, although she was looking down, not out.
{: What do you think so far? :}
{: Very noisy. But is only to start with, it’s better now. :} Midna replied.
{: This is Awesome! :} Link said as he dashed to the other side of the plane to look out that window too. Soon he was back.
Midna sat watching him, no longer looking out the window at all, after he nearly knocked her onto the floor. She looked like she was watching a tennis match. His furry golden body dashing from one side of the plane to the other.
Moon laughed at them both.
{: Link, settle down. The flight will take almost four hours before we land. You have plenty of time to see outside. :} Moon told him.
{: He is not going to settle down Moon. :} she said watching Link. {: I think you need to know why. But I was hoping to have Link help explain this. :} She purred loudly as she leaned against Moon.
{: Oh, just tell her. You don’t need my help! :} Link said as he bounced again between the windows. {: I need to watch the world fly under me again! :}
Moon looked at Midna, {: I didn’t think you had ever flown, what does he mean he needs to see it fly under him again? :}
{: Do you remember the night we met Moon, when we told you that we would explain how cats can talk to you, but not all cats can? :}
{: Yes of course I remember, and every single time I’ve tried to get more information from either of you, you stonewalled me. :}
