Cherry Wright
Welcome, to my alter ego Cherry Wright.
My sister Cherry is my inspiration for this alter ego. She passed away as an infant, in 1961 and through the years I have done many things to honor her memory as best I could.
For many years, I collected rocks everywhere I went. I saved them in 5 gallon buckets. They travelled with me everywhere. From state to state, and even across marriages. In 1999, I visited her grave in Albuquerque, NM. I hadn't been there since I was a small child.
Sadly, her grave was in an older part of the cemetary, and was not well kept. I cleaned it off, pulled the weeds, threw away the trash, then took out my buckets of rocks. I sat there and told her the story of each rock as I outlined her grave with them, and then spelled her name out.
It's strange, because after that, I never wanted to pick up any more rocks. I suppose, my gifting them to her and telling her the tales of their travels to get to her, I didn't need to collect any more.
Now, I write stories for her, as her. In my mind she is an eight year old girl, who grew up with our grandparents. I visited every summer, but she was lucky and lived with them all the time. So all of her stories are based from that point of view. She also loves to draw her own pictures for her books. So be patient with her, remember she is eight.
Come along as she learns her craft and discovers the world of words, imagination and all the happiness in the world.
